A.Firefly’s teachers will save you time and money by bringing music lesson to you. Instead of spending time in traffic and worrying about parking, Firefly Music Lessons provide outstanding lessons in the comfort of your own home.
Q. What are the benefits of studying music?
A. Some of the benefits of studying music are:
- Development of imagination and creativity
- Development of memory skill
- Development of cognitive and motor skills
- Development of self-awareness and confidence
Q. What are the benefits of studying music at a young age?
A. Many studies suggest that listening to and playing music in the early stages of childhood increases development in the areas of memory, concentration and reasoning skills.
Q. Do you offer instruction for adult beginners?
A. Yes! It is never too late to learn how to play an instrument. Furthermore, parents who take lessons can make a positive impact on the success of their children’s lessons.
Q. What is Firefly’s position on students practice?
A. Practice is integral to musical development. Following each lesson, Firefly teachers will leave detailed instructions for the student to follow over the coming week. Students can be expected to practice between 10-30 minutes 5 days a week depending on their age and level. Tips for effective practice:
- Set aside a specific time of the day to practice and stick with it
- Set your practice schedule for times of optimum energy and concentration
- Your practice space should be located in a place that makes practice easier
- Difficult aspect of your practice routine should be made the priority
- Try to cover aspect of practice that you tend to avoid
Q. Does Firefly host a year end recital?
A. Yes we do. At the end of every year, typically June, Firefly hosts a recital where students are encouraged to participate. Family and friends are invited to attend.
Q. What if we do not have a quality musical instrument?
A. Firefly Performing Arts offers advice and assistance on buying or renting musical instruments.
Q. Do we receive any feedback regarding lessons?
A. Firefly provides an annual progress report to each and every student.
Q. Can student participate in Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) Examinations?
A. Firefly is pleased to help students prepare for RCM exams. However, this is not mandatory and some students may not wish to participate in RCM examinations.
